Thubten Chodron shared this teaching with us when we asked her what happiness meant to her.
Her usual gentleness combined with great clarity makes her Dharma talk very effective and comprehensible to everyone.
She began by reminding us that the happiness derived from sense objects is only apparent, dependent on uncontrollable and impermanent things, and ensnares us in the destructive, endless paradigm of I want more and better.
According to the words of the Buddha, it is possible to see that happiness comes from two factors: having a peaceful mind and a purpose in life.
She spoke about her personal experience: "When I act according to my values and my principles, when I live an ethical life, my heart is at peace."
She then explained how, from a Buddhist perspective, living according to one's values generates a sense of inner peace and kindness towards others, corresponding to the feeling one gets from connecting with them and thereby making a positive difference in someone's life. She emphasized that this very feeling can be our fulfillment.
Additionally, having a sense of scope that contributes positively to society brings good feelings to the heart, even if it is a small act or a single moment.
Therefore, a deep sense of fulfillment comes from having a purpose that goes beyond one's own limited well-being and contributes to the well-being of others.

Acting in an ethical way, living according to our values and principles caring about other people, opening our hearts to other people brings the sense of purpose, it brings a sense of peace and it creates happiness for not only others but also ourselves.

[127

post-5762","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-editoriale
["GET
